Gastro Relief is a revolutionary supplement for heartburn, indigestion, gastritis and other conditions of the upper gastrointestinal tract. It is designed to quickly and effectively provide natural support against the pain of heartburn while providing nutrients that target its potential causes. In addition, it helps heal the lining of the stomach. Many people suffer from heartburn or acid indigestion caused by acid reflux. Each ingredient of Gastro Relief has a purpose. Mastic gum has been shown to disable Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a species of bacteria that is at the root of many heartburn cases and ulcers. Vitamin C increases the acidity of the stomach; most gastric issues stem from a lack of stomach acid as opposed to too much. Ginger calms the stomach during digestive upset, while zinc-carnosine and nitric oxide promote the healing of damaged stomach lining cells. Finally, sodium alginate prevents gastric contents from backing up into the esophagus, preventing painful heartburn symptoms and protecting the esophagus against damage from acidity.

A double-blind clinical trial tested the effect of mastic gum on duodenal ulcers. 38 patients with a symptomatic (and proven with endoscope) ulcer were given either 1g of mastic gum daily or placebo for 2 weeks. Of the patients given mastic gum, 80% had symptomatic relief compared to only 50% of those given placebo. Upon visualizing the ulcers with an endoscope post-treatment, 70% of those treated with mastic had healed, compared to only 22% of those on placebo. Both findings were statistically significant, and treatment was well tolerated. One study examined the efficacy of zinc carnosine on stimulating gut repair by means of three separate experiments: in vitro, in vivo, and a human trial. The in vitro study found that zinc carnosine induced cell migration as a method of wound healing. The in vivo study found that animals given zinc carnosine were more protected against the gastric damage from an NSAID medication (indomethacin). In the human trial, 10 volunteers were given indomethacin which caused a threefold increase in gut permeability (“leaky gut”). However, when the patients were taking 37.5mg twice daily of zinc carnosine, the indomethacin did not cause any significant increase in gut permeability.Although there have been negative associations between nitrates and gut health, studies have shown that specific dietary nitrates that lead to the low-dose production of nitric oxide actually have protective effects against gut inflammation. In an animal model of gastritis, potassium nitrate administration led to significant reductions in gastritis. Researchers concluded that the dietary nitrate protected against gastritis in rats by releasing nitric oxide in the stomach.
