This randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study from 2016 aimed to evaluate the effect of a combination of folic acid, myo-inositol (MI) and D-chiro inositol (DCI) in young overweight women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), characterized by anovulation and hyperandrogenism, correlated to insulin resistance. Participants received either a placebo or folic acid (200 μg) + MI (550 mg) + DCI (13.8 mg) twice daily for six months. The results show a statistically significant reduction of LH, free testosterone, fasting insulin and HOMA index in the combination therapy group, compared to the placebo.
