In this review published in 2020 researchers explored the impact of milk thistle extracts on mitigating impacts of exposure to biological toxins (e.g. mycotoxins, snake venoms, bacterial toxins) or chemical toxic agents (e.g. metals, pesticides, cardiotoxic, neurotoxic, hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic agents). Authors examined preclinical data that defined constituents that had radical scavenging, anti-oxidative, anti-apoptotic properties.
