In a randomized controlled trial from 2014, patients diagnosed with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) were given 1000 mg flower pollen extract daily or 600 mg ibuprofen three times daily for four weeks. At the end of the treatment period, 75% of patients in the flower pollen extract group had improvements in quality of life compared to 41% in the ibuprofen group. There were also less adverse effects in the pollen treatment group compared to the ibuprofen group.
