This randomized, two-group, double-blind, multicentric and longitudinal study of men and women in facilities for cognitive decline. 92 older individuals (60–96 years of age) participated in the study.
The intervention arm constituted implementation of bread rolls containing 3.3 mg of spermidine from wheat germ and the second group received rolls from wheat bran equating to 1.9 mg of spermidine.
Early intervention of spermidine, starting with 60 years of age should be advised to prevent progression of cognitive decline as the impact for severe cases is less significant.
