Citrus bergamia, Bergamot
Bergamot (Citrus Bergamia) is a citrus fruit native to the coastal Calabrian region of Italy. A member of the Rutaceae family, the fruit is the size of an orange, yet similar in color to a lime or even yellowish, depending on the ripeness. Bergamot extracts are particularly rich in flavones and flavonones including: neoeriocitrin, naringin and neohesperidin. All been isolated and identified in bergamot.
