Indole-3-carbinol (I-3-C) is a phytonutrient found in Brassica vegetables such as broccoli, kale and cabbage, and is one of the key health-promoting compounds in these foods. I3C needs stomach acid to then convert into 15+ compounds, of which the most predominant is DIM. DIM facilitates the production of the protective 2-hydroxy-estrogen (2OHE) metabolites through induction of phase I CYP1A1 enzymes, accounting for many of its benefits. Â Â
